The company Quicksilver has been around for over 20 years. It was created by two surfers by the name of Jeffery Hackman and Robert B. McKnight.  The first line of apparel was created in 1976 and their first project was producing only a small batch of 600 Quicksilver board shorts that year.   In the 1990’s the company created its very first line of apparel for women and it was labeled Roxy which is already very popular and increasing its popularity every day.  The company logo is a wave and a mountain which together symbolizes athleticism as well as global excellence.  The company is geared towards surfers and those who enjoy water sports. The department of Quicksilver board shorts has also done many promotions and used numerous professional surfers such as the famous Kelly Slater to wear the line for exposure to advertise its products to the younger surfers of today.  Quicksilver board shorts are very trendy and keep up with their competitors.  Right now at the moment the top trends are plaid, retro, printed graphics, and young guns.  They are all pretty explanatory except the young guns which is a collection that resembles paintings of the beach with bright colors that would match those in a sunset.  The board shorts themselves uphold their sporty look and yet at the same time they also manage to attract the fashion forward consumers who may not particularly play sports, but simply enjoy the look.  The materials are made from soft, light, stretchable, easy to move in nylons, polyesters, cotton, and micro suede’s.  The Micro suede actually helps the material dry a lot faster (twice as fast) than any other material, so that the surfer or any other consumer is not as irritable or weighed down.  Also Quicksilver has re-invented some materials such as the Diamond Bobby, Neo Fly, and Tech series.  The Diamond Bobby material is designed to help reduce chafing which is a huge issue most surfers unfortunately experience.  The material Neo Fly is extremely stretchable and easy to move around in, and then there is the Tech series which as I have learned destroys the old side affects many surfers would experience while surfing with cargo pockets.

Quicksilver board shorts are made from recycled materials which allow less than 30% of the material to actually come in contact with your skin, which helps eliminate rashes and that raw burning sensation induced while surfing.  At the same time the material is so light it almost feels weightless.  The Quicksilver board shorts are machine washable.  However, most avid surfers in a recent survey I found said that they like to hand wash their shorts due to shrinking and color distortion by machine wash.  If you choose the hand washing option and there is still a strong odor of chlorine or the beach, there is a product called Suit Solutions that take the smell right out and for a very low price of about $5 dollars.

Quicksilver board shorts tend to reach about knee length.  The reason for the length is so that surfer’s leg hairs are not being yanked out by the board wax that most surfers use.  Plus aside from the horrible pain one would feel from a less then pleasant hair removal, the long board shorts also block the suns horrible ultraviolet rays.  On a side note some board shorts are even made with a protective material that helps block the UV rays even more. Mens board shorts from Quicksilver along with the rest of their apparel line run side by side with their competitors.  The board shorts typically go for around $50 dollars a pair and they tend to typically go on sale in the summer months for about half of the original price, as do most summer clothes.  Women can also wear the mens board shorts if they choose to due to the similarity in patterns and designs.  However, women will notice the baggy look is less than attractive and very uncomfortable.  They would be better off purchasing a pair of board shorts designed for their body type.

If you have any further questions or concerns with the Quicksilver board shorts or any other mens board shorts for that matter, you can go online and literally “surf” the net for comments and reviews on products, materials, promotions, advertisements, possible job/career opportunities, and really anything else that has to do with the Quicksilver brand.  You would really be surprised by how much information I found and researched, but after everything I discovered Quicksilver has one of the best brands in the business.  Their board shorts are made by surfers for surfers to ensure a happy and loyal costumer for years and years of business, because Quicksilver is here to stay and stay for a while it will.
